St. Edmund Elementary School is a Nursery through 8th grade, coeducational, Catholic grammar school located in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Affiliated with St. Edmund Parish, the school was founded in 1923 by Reverend Denis A. Moloney. Principal Sister Baptista led a faculty of five Dominican Sisters of Sparkill. Within a few years, Grades 6-8 were added to the initial Grades 1-5, and the first class graduated in 1927. The Dominican Sisters of Sparkill were the educational backbone of St. Edmund for over 60 years. Although lay teachers run the school now, the strong belief in Catholic education is still faithfully carried out by the men and women of the faculty and staff.

St. Edmund Preparatory High School, founded in 1962, is located next door, and we enjoy a close, ongoing relationship. Many of our graduates go on to high school at St. Edmund Prep.
